I use this word for the moment when I understand in a way that changes not just the way I think, but also the way I feel and behave. "Apprehending" may be similar to enlightenment, or “getting it,” or “emotional intelligence.”
Apprehending
To Do This Week

Complete the sentence, “Everything changed the day . . .”, and let your mind re‑visit a crossroads when you seemed to change deeply. How did you move forward? Have you ever shared this deep shift with a friend? (Putting it into words can be challenging, requiring almost a new vocabulary.)

Re-visit this experience often this week; dig up a new one if you wish. As a "can-opener for the mind," a recollection like this can function a bit like the koans used in some schools of Zen Buddhist study: they renew aliveness.
